In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Suicide Prevention Month, we are excited to share a resource from Comunilife. The Life is Precious program was started in 2008 by Comunilife’s President and CEO Dr. Rosa Gil to help Latina teens at risk of suicide. The stigma of mental health coupled with stress, family conflict and other factors have contributed to a rise in suicidal ideation in Latina teens in NYC.

On Thursday, September 28th, CSD Housing and Federation of Organizations joined project partners and elected and government officials for the opening of a new affordable/supportive housing residence, Herkimer Gardens. Herkimer Gardens brings 121 new affordable apartments, including 60 new units of supportive housing for seniors, to Bedford–Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. On-site services are provided by Federation of Organizations funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) through New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH).
