The New York City Council has responded to the Mayor's FY24 Preliminary Budget with a call for investments to offset cuts and deliver key programs. The Council identified $2.7 billion in additional resources over Fiscal Years 2023 and 2024 and is proposing approximately $1.3 billion in investments to support its priorities, with $1.4 billion to be set aside in reserve to offset risks.

HUD Announces Continuum of Care Awards

On March 28th, HUD announced the Continuum of Care awards for the FY 2022 competition, totaling $2.8 billion nationally.  In New York State, 23 CoCs received $268 million, a 3% increase over the prior year.  NYC won $145 million, a 2% increase.  Most of the funding supports existing permanent supportive housing rental assistance programs, so the funding increases largely support increased Fair Market Rents.  Congrats to all CoCs and funded programs.  Please contact spiasecki@shnny.org with details about this funding, as we gear up for another federal budget year.
