Community Housing Innovations Breaks Ground on Mt. Hope Plaza

On April 12th, Community Housing Innovations and the Mt. Hope Community Development Corporation joined project partners and elected officials to break ground on a new affordable/supportive housing residence, Mt. Hope Plaza in White Plains. When complete, Mt. Hope Plaza will create 56 affordable apartments, including 20 supportive for seniors experiencing homelessness. On-site services are provided by Community Housing Innovations, Inc. and are funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYS OMH) administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) for persons who are over the age of 62 with a serious mental illness and homeless or have an unmet housing need. The development is the result of a partnership with the Mt. Hope A.M.E Zion Church to construct affordable housing on an underutilized parcel owned by the church.
City Council Response to the Mayor’s FY25 Preliminary Budget

On April 1st, 2024 the City Council released its response to the Mayor’s Preliminary Budget and Preliminary Mayor’s Management Plan (the Response). Overall, the Response built upon the Council's contention that the Administration has overestimated costs and underestimated revenues. The Council asserts that there is an additional $6.15 billion available for Fiscal 2025 in a combination of additional revenue and potential underspending. The Response puts forth a series of proposals for this previously unidentified funding.

HCR 9% Multifamily Awards Announced

New York State Homes and Community Renewal recently announced the fall 2023 9% Multifamily Awards. Supportive Housing projects featured prominently this year, 17 out of the 29 (59%) projects have ESSHI supportive housing units. Supportive housing units accounted for over 25% of the total funded units (468/1852).

The Network joined Correct Crisis Intervention Today (CCIT) – NYC on Tuesday, March 19th for, Peers, Policy and Pancakes, a legislative briefing for City elected officials and staff and on Thursday, March 21st for Mental Health Care Not Criminalization Rally in advance of the Mental Health Preliminary Budget Hearing.
