July was Bebe Moore Campbell Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month. Bebe Moore Campbell was a writer, teacher, NPR commentator and advocate for mental health, particularly for the Black community.
Lakeview Health Services Opens West End Heights

On June 21st Lakeview Health Services joined partners and residents for the grand opening of their newest affordable and supportive housing residence, West End Heights in Ithaca, New York. The newly constructed building creates 60 apartments, including 18 supportive for formerly homeless individuals. Services for these units are provided on-site by Lakeview Health Services and funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI). Additionally, 20 units will house individuals who are residents in Lakeview’s congregate living programs, certified by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the remaining 22 apartments are low-income community units.
Pascale Leone Named Executive Director of The Network

Pascale Leone, a leader in the supportive housing movement and an anti-racist practitioner and equity strategist, has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of the Network. Ms. Leone has worked for close to two decades on a wide range of issues related to improving the lives of underserved and at-risk individuals with a focus on equity and inclusion.
YWCA Cortland and Christopher Community Open Grace Brown House

On July 21st YWCA Cortland and Christopher Community joined project and government partners to celebrate the opening of a new supportive housing residence, Grace Brown House. Located in Cortland, the residence is creating 25 new supportive housing apartments for survivors of domestic violence and their families. Christopher Community developed the project and onsite services are provided by YWCA Cortland funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) through New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).
