NYSSHP Funding Announced

On December 16th, New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) announced $40 million in funding under its New York State Supportive Housing Program (NYSSHP) $39 million of which renews funding for existing programs, and $691,000 for 6 newly funded agencies. NYSSHP provides a small amount of services funding to serve homeless individuals, young adults and families in more than 17,000 units of supportive housing statewide, 10,000 of which are in NYC in partnership with the Department of Homeless Services.
ESSHI 6th Year Conditional Awards Announced

Governor Hochul announced the 6th year of conditional Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) awards in December. A total of 192 projects totaling over 7,800 supportive housing units received conditional awards for service and operating funding. Over 80% of these projects (155) are proposed by Network members. A portion of these projects – at least 1,400 units in total – will move into the permanent pipeline over the next twelve months. This marks the first time that ESSHI conditional awards have an additional year to secure capital funding.
The Network’s Behavioral Health Advocacy

On December 21st, the Network joined a coalition of behavioral health advocates for a virtual rally to call for a 5.4% COLA and a $500 million investment in workforce, services, and support in the Executive Budget. The rally followed a media forum held at the state capitol on December 16th.
FHLBNY Awards Announced

On December 21, 2021, The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York announced the 2021 Affordable Housing Program awards. Supportive housing is included in 14 out of 23 awards in New York State. These awards include both rehabilitation and new units, and cover a wide array of supportive housing, from Vital Brooklyn to Ogdensburg. The funds range from first funding in to final gap filler. The Network Testifies at New York City Council and New York State Assembly Hearings

Over the past months, the Network has testified at the New York City Council Committee on Environmental Protection and Committee on General Welfare Oversight as well as the New York State Assembly Standing Committee on Social Services.
