On June 22nd Housing and Services Inc. (HSI) joined government and project partners to open a new affordable/supportive housing residence, The Bedford, which is creating 108 new apartments, including 66 supportive housing units for families and seniors. HSI will provide on-site services funded by NYC 15/15.

Happy Pride Month! The Network is continually inspired by the work of our community members who uplift and serve the LGBTQ+ community in supportive housing and beyond. As you all know, supportive housing was partially borne out of the AIDS epidemic in NYC, which disproportionately impacted the gay community, and the stigma attached to people who had been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease. It was through the fierce advocacy of ACT UP that our proud member Housing Works was created. Check out this informative and interactive history of Housing Works, including the documentary United in Anger: A History of Act UP.

FY 2023 Adopted NYC Budget and Housing Blueprint

On Monday, June 13th, the City Council voted to adopt the FY 2023 Budget, which will take effect on July 1st. The expense budget is $101.1 billion, which is a $1.4 billion increase over April’s executive budget proposal, and a $2.4 billion increase over the adopted FY 2022 budget.
