On December 15th, Urban Pathways and Care For the Homeless hosted their annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day observance to honor New Yorkers who passed away in 2022 while unstably housed or due to the stressors of homelessness. They have co-hosted this memorial since 2016, and this year’s remembrance was the first held in-person since 2019.
Jericho Project and HELP USA Break Ground on Logan Fountain

On December 14th, Hudson Companies, Jericho Project and HELP USA joined development partners and elected officials to break ground on Logan Fountain, a new mixed-use development, supportive and affordable residence and shelter, in East New York. When complete, the eastern wing will create 174 new affordable apartments, including 105 supportive for formerly homeless individuals. On-site services are provided by the Jericho Project funded by NYC 15/15 through the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). The western wing will create 169 transitional beds for homeless families, provided by HELP USA funded through the New York City Department of Homeless Services.

On Friday, January 13th the Network joined tenants nominated for the Network’s 2022 Outstanding Tenant of the Year award with supportive housing staff at HELP USA’s headquarters.

Governor Hochul Announces Conditional Awards of ESSHI Round 7

On December 30th, Governor Hochul announced the seventh round of Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) conditional awards. In all, 125 projects totaling about 5,000 units can now move forward in pursuit of capital funding to build supportive housing.
