The Supportive Housing Network of NY (the Network) issued the following statement on Mayor Adams’ directive that all city agencies cut their budgets by 4 percent for the coming fiscal year:

At a time when New York faces severe affordable housing and homelessness crises, the Adams administration should be dedicating resources to helping our most vulnerable neighbors instead of reducing agency budgets – including those that interact with unhoused New Yorkers and provide critical housing and supportive services. If any cuts are implemented, it is critical that all agencies that interact with homeless New Yorkers and housing services – including HPD and DSS, and DOHMH – are exempt and instead receive additional resources to deliver the services and programs that are so desperately needed.
