After a decade with the Network, most recently as our Deputy Executive Director, Nicole Branca has been appointed Assistant Commissioner & Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives, Mayor's Office of Veterans' Affairs.

Laura Mascuch, the Network’s Executive Director said, “For more than a decade Nicole has been a remarkably strong advocate for our members and supportive housing tenants across the state. She has accomplished many things, but her leadership on NY/NY III which culminated in the "Taking Stock" report points to her dedication and commitment to supportive housing. She has also been a steadfast leader on the Continuum of Care which engages many of our members. We wish Nicole many continued successes as she embarks on ending veterans homelessness in New York City.”

Nicole joined the Network in 2004, leading our policy and advocacy activities. This has included extensive analysis and advocacy for NY/NY III, launching a campaign for NY/NY IV, mitigating various development barriers to the creation of supportive housing and advocating for homeless systems reform. She has also co-chaired New York City's Continuum of Care for the past six years.

“As a thought leader and advocate in the supportive housing field for over 10 years, Nicole will be sorely missed.  She has an unwavering dedication to the field of supportive housing and serving the homeless.  We know that Nicole will bring her knowledge and vision to the Mayor’s Office and create a better life for veterans experiencing homelessness in New York.  As a veterans service organization ourselves, we are enthusiastic about working with Nicole in this new venue,” said Tori Lyon, Executive Director of the Jericho Project.

Ralph Fasano, Executive Director of Concern for Independent Living, said “Nicole was a significant force behind elevating the Network’s status in New York State and nationwide.  We are very grateful for her years of service and wish her the best of luck in her new position at the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs.”
