On December 30th, Governor Hochul announced the seventh round of Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) conditional awards. In all, 125 projects totaling about 5,000 units can now move forward in pursuit of capital funding to build supportive housing.
New York State is committed to producing 1,400 units of supportive housing annually, up from 1,200 in the first five years of the plan, thanks to Governor Hochul’s commitment in last year’s budget to create 7,000 new units as part of the state’s five year housing plan. The state reports that 7,400 ESSHI units have received full funding in the first six years of the initiative.
Over 80% of the awards to 96 nonprofits went to Network members. Congratulations to all. See list of the 125 conditional awards here.
