Samaritan Daytop Village Breaks Ground on Highbridge

On a blustery December 5th, Samaritan Daytop Foundation and Samaritan Daytop Village (SDV) along with supporters and partners celebrated breaking ground on Highbridge, a 316-unit supportive/affordable building alongside a 106-unit family shelter. Highbridge is SDV’s first new construction fully supportive residence with 190 supportive units for individuals and families and 125 affordable apartments.  Samaritan Daytop Village will provide onsite supportive services to tenants under the NYC 15/15 Initiative funded by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Selfhelp and BFC Open The Pearl

With a stunning view of the Verrazano Bridge as a backdrop, friends and partners of Selfhelp and BFC Partners gathered on the roof of the new supportive/affordable building The Pearl in Staten Island on November 15th. The 12-story building features 270 units, including 138 units reserved for formerly unhoused older adults and 131 studios, 1 and 2-bedrooms designated for households earning at or below 80% of the area median income (AMI). Onsite services will be provided by Selfhelp through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative, administered by the New York State Department of Health.

Concern Housing Opens St. James Terrace

On October 29th, friends, staff and partners gathered to celebrate the opening of Concern Housing’s St. James Terrace, a supportive/affordable building adjacent to the historic St. James Church in the Fordham district of the Bronx. The new residence provides 102 affordable apartments, 51 of which are supportive. Onsite services are provided by Concern Housing and funded by the Office of Mental Health through the state’s Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative.

Services for the UnderServed Opens Melrose North

On October 28th, electeds and friends gathered to celebrate a housewarming for Services for the UnderServed’s (S:US) Melrose North, a new supportive/affordable residence in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. A collaboration between S:US and Bronx Pro Group, Melrose North will provide 171 affordable apartments 103 of which are supportive serving both families who have survived domestic violence as well as eligible supportive individuals. Onsite services will be provided by S:US funded by both NYC 15/15 through the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and the NYS Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).

Johnson Park Center Opens Johnson Park Green Community Apartments

On October 7th, Johnson Park Center joined project partners and elected officials to celebrate the opening of Johnson Park Green Community Apartments in Utica. The 4-building project consists of all affordable buildings, three buildings include 31 supportive units serving frail elderly homeless individuals and one building consists of an expanded community center. On-site support services are provided by Johnson Park Center funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative and administered by the New York State Department of Health.

The Bridge, Mega Development and Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center Open Bridge Rockaway

On September 25th, The Bridge, Mega Development, and Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center (GMDC) joined elected officials and project partners to celebrate the opening of Bridge Rockaway in Brownsville Brooklyn. On the site of the former Fox's U-Bet Chocolate Syrup factory, the new development is creating 174 affordable apartments, 87 of which are supportive, as well as 39,000 square feet of affordable ground-floor light manufacturing space known as the GMDC Brownsville Industrial Center. This housing model is the first of its kind in New York City to co-locate residential and light manufacturing uses on underutilized manufacturing property. On site services are provided by The Bridge funded by both the city’s NYC 15/15 Initiative through the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and the state’s Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).

Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens Breaks Ground on the Gail P. Duke Residence

On September 19th, friends and partners of Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens gathered to break ground on the Catholic Charities Gail P. Duke Senior Residence which will create 141 apartments for older adults, 48 of them supportive. Onsite services will be provided by Catholic Charities funded by the NYC 15/15 initiative through the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) for 43 residents and New York State Office of Mental Health for five residents.

Tompkins Community Action Opens Asteri Ithaca

On August 13th, Tompkins Community Action and the Vecino Group joined elected officials and project partners for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Asteri Ithaca. This new affordable and supportive housing residence and 55,000 square-foot conference center includes 181 new affordable apartments, including 40 supportive in downtown Ithaca. Support services are provided by Tompkins Community Action funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) and administered through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.

New Destiny Housing Opens Highgarden Tower

On July 25th, New Destiny Housing joined elected officials, community and project partners, to celebrate the opening of Highgarden Tower in New Rochelle. This new affordable and supportive housing residence is creating 219 new affordable apartments, 77 of which are supportive for survivors of domestic violence from Westchester County. On-site services are provided by New Destiny Housing funded by the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) through the NYS Office of Temporary Disability and Assistance (OTDA).
