In the 1980s, New York State led the nation when it created innovative programs like the New York State Supportive Housing Program (NYSSHP) that brings services into housing for homeless people in need. But those first generation supportive housing units are now in serious jeopardy due to stagnant funding levels that have barely increased in four decades.
On October 23rd, 2024 the Network and over 150 nonprofit members sent a letter to Kathy Hochul urging her to convert the 9,000 at-risk NYSSHP units to ESSHI through a five-year, phased-in approach. See the letter HERE. Download the letter HERE.
