The Network’s Executive Director, Laura Mascuch, testified in support of the Governor’s proposal to fund Year 6 of the Governor’s 15 year/20,000 unit commitment at the New York State Senate and Assembly Joint Legislative Budget Hearing on February 2nd.
Included in the executive budget for year 6 is capital funding totaling $250 million to support year 6 of this commitment. It includes $186 million at Homes & Community Renewal and $64 million of $128 million in capital funded at the Office of Temporary & Disability Assistance Homeless Housing Assistance Program. Laura testified in support of both programs being funded in full.
“Having this funding in place allows the pipeline to continue at a pace of 1,200 units a year and will bridge us to next year when we would like to see another five-year affordable housing plan enacted,” Laura stated.
Laura also testified in support of the Housing Chairs’ Senator Kavanagh and Assembly member Cymbrowitz’s proposed legislation to ensure a five year affordable housing plan is in place every five years.
