On April 7th, the NYC Council released its response to the FY22 Preliminary Budget. The Network is pleased to see many of our priorities in the response.
These include:
EXEMPTING HPD FROM THE CITYWIDE HIRING AND ATTRITION PROGRAM
FULLY FUNDING THE INDIRECT COST RATE (ICR) INITIATIVE
- The Council calls on the administration to add $57m to restore FY21 cuts to the ICR, while baselining funding for the program at $91m in FY22.
REINSTATING THE COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENTS (COLA) ON HUMAN SERVICE CONTRACTS
- The Council included $48m to reinstate the COLA on human service contracts
The Council also called on the administration to conduct a study of wages across the public sector workforce and to establish a fund that would address wage inequities.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the Human Services Council for leading the efforts on the ICR and the COLA. Use this HSC template asking the City Council to hold firm on these asks, ensuring the nonprofit human services sector can serve our communities.
