On November 2nd, the Network hosted its 2023 Annual Awards Gala. Members and partners across the entire supportive housing sector joined to celebrate our incredible community, to honor two Outstanding Tenants of the Year – Jimmy Rivera and Jerrisa White and, last but not least, to network.
Network Board Chair Brenda Rosen kicked off the program welcoming everyone and shining a light on the crucial work of the community, “We have faced many challenges over the past several years, challenges that didn’t end – and by some measures increased -- with the end of the pandemic. Through it all, however, this community hasn’t missed a beat, continuing to develop the pipeline of new, quality supportive housing that is so desperately needed.” She then gave a warm welcome to the Network’s Executive Director, Pascale Leone and celebrated her first year as the Network’s Executive Director.
Pascale thanked sponsors, the Network’s fundraising committee, Network staff and the supportive housing community for making the night possible, saying “It’s wonderful to see you all gathered here to celebrate with us – we are nearly 600 strong this evening, with both new and longstanding friends in attendance. Thank you all for coming.”
Pascale then awarded the evening’s honorees, two Outstanding Tenants of the Year: Jimmy Rivera and Jerrisa White.
Jimmy is the longest surviving tenant in Project Hospitality’s HASA supportive housing and has “volunteered his heart out” ever since the late 80’s according to PH’s President and CEO Rev. Terry Troia. Learn more about Jimmy and watch his video here.
At Access: Supports for Living, Jerrisa is known for her determination, grace and fierce dedication to herself and her family. She is described as a great neighbor, friend, community member and inspiration to others. Learn more about Jerrisa and watch her video here.
Throughout most of the evening, we projected a slideshow showcasing Network events, supportive housing events, new supportive housing residence groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings, and nominated tenants of the year. See the slideshow here.
