THANK YOU GOVERNOR CUOMO AND MAYOR DE BLASIO FOR YOUR COMMITMENTS TO CREATING 35,000 UNITS OF SUPPORTIVE HOUSING IN NEW YORK STATE OVER THE NEXT FIFTEEN YEARS!

Watch our video Getting to 35,000 Units that memorializes the two year campaign to secure commitments from the City and the State to create 35,000 new units of supportive housing.

The Network works with campaigns to end homelessness and expand access to low-income housing in New York City, New York State and nationwide, recently with our primary focus being the Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing.

Recent Accomplishments included a letter sent by 26 senators, both Republican and Democrat, in support of 35,000 new units of supportive housing statewide.

Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing

Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing is a coalition launched in May of 2014 aimed at advocating for a new New York City and New York State agreement to finance the creation of 30,000 new units of supportive housing over the next decade. Over 347 organizations signed on to the Campaign’s platform, which called for the building of 15,000 new units of supportive housing and the allocation of 15,000 units of scattered-site units in affordable housing and market-rate developments. The Campaign advocated for a greater emphasis on families and young adults while maintaining the previous NY/NY Agreements’ commitment to homeless individuals living with mental illness and other chronic conditions.  The platform also promoted greater flexibility in housing New York’s most vulnerable tenants and underscored the need for adequate contract funding and long-term contracts.

Working together we won the largest committment to supportive housing ever made by any governor or mayor  -- 35,000 new units over 15 years.

The Supportive Housing Network of New York was proud to play a leadership role in the Campaign. For more information please contact Maclain Berhaupt or visit Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing.
