On September 9th, the Network’s Policy and Programs Manager Katie Mui testified at the New York City Council Committee on Housing and Buildings.
Katie thanked the Council and the Progressive Caucus for their support on the Network’s NYC 15/15 Reallocation Plan which resulted in the new Supportive Housing Preservation Program.
Katie urged the Council and the Administration to work with the State to identify feasible solutions to secure NYC’s current supportive housing stock amidst looming federal threats. She also advocated for the Council to address persistent vacancies in the HASA portfolio by supporting the conversion of those units to NYC 15/15, work with the New York Police Department and the Public Administrators office to expedite the opening of sealed units, and expedite One Shot Deal applications for tenants in supportive housing.
