On June 10th, the Network’s Policy & Programs Manager Katie Mui testified at the New York City Council Committee on Finance FY27 Executive Budget Hearing. Katie acknowledged the Council’s Progressive Caucus ‘Rentals Within Reach campaign, and applauded their leadership, vision and recognition of the importance of preserving supportive housing.
Katie then emphasized the impact of divestments to permanent supportive housing through the Continuum of Care program on providers and tenants and stressed the need for a supportive housing preservation program to provide nonprofits with critical mechanisms needed to remain financially stable. She urged the council to invest $78.3 million to preserve 325 supportive housing units and renovate another 1,000 units in FY27.
