On March 13th 2026, the Network joined the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) for its Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C. The Network attended six meetings with House and Senate offices. In these meetings, the Network highlighted the ongoing crisis within HUD’s Continuum of Care (CoC) programs. Congressman Lawler’s office committed to contacting HUD to address the lack of progress on renewing first quarter contracts, as required by Congress.
While in DC, the Network also was able to express appreciation to the Senate for passing a comprehensive affordable housing bill, the “21st Century ROAD to Housing Act,” (S.Amdt.4308). This bill incorporates most provisions from the Senate’s “ROAD to Housing Act” (S.2651), along with six provisions from the House’s “Housing for the 21st Century Act” (H.R.6644). If enacted, it would be the largest, bipartisan housing supply bill passed by Congress in decades. The Network urged House members to support and advance the Senate version of the bill.
