On June 6th, over 2,000 registrants joined the Network for its 23rd Annual New York State Supportive Housing Conference. The conference featured 24 panels with experts sharing updates and best practices and tools for providers in supportive housing including findings from the Network’s second State of Supportive housing report, partnering with faith-based organizations to develop housing, best practices on addressing rental arrears, using occupational therapy as an engagement tool, conflict mediation skills, ways to utilize harm reduction programs and resources and the healing powers of the arts.

Network Board Chair Brenda Rosen kicked-off the morning session followed by Network Executive Director Pascale Leone who then introduced NYS Deputy Secretary for Housing Tanya Dissanayake and NYS Deputy Secretary for Human Services and Mental Hygiene Peter Hatch. New Destiny Housing Tenants and Program Directors Rosemarie, Yahaira, Denise, Carla, Sharike, Janine and Thaiasia introduced CEO of National Alliance to End Homelessness Ann Oliva, to deliver a keynote speech. Ann Oliva grounded us in words of wisdom, reminding us to: “Always stay united. Never lose your joy. Keep fighting for what you believe in.” As our Executive Director Pascale Leone closed the morning program, she said “Let’s keep organizing. Let’s keep listening. Let’s keep building power – and holding sacred the community we’ve built. Because when we fight? We win.”
