On July 23, the Network celebrated the successful completion of the third year of its 2026 Safety & Well-Being Training Series and Community of Practice (CoP). This year’s cohort brought together 24 agencies, provided training to 902 unique staff members, and supported 30 staff through the CoP.

Over the past three years, the initiative has reached 67 agencies and trained 2,272 unique individuals across the supportive housing sector. A total of 110 staff have completed the CoP, with 99% reporting that they gained new skills, strategies, and tools to address safety concerns in their work.

The Safety & Well-Being initiative was created in direct response to feedback from Network members. In 2023, the Network convened statewide roundtables with supportive housing providers to better understand the growing challenges facing the field, including increasing tenant need, widening gaps between available and needed services, and the effects of staffing shortages and burnout.

Building on this feedback—as well as input gathered from statewide tenant roundtables—and with the critical support of The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Network launched this seven-month initiative to strengthen staff capacity and promote safer, healthier workplaces.

The initiative includes:

The curriculum was developed in collaboration with experts from across the Network's membership, making it a truly by and for supportive housing initiative. Trainers represent the breadth of expertise within the supportive housing community—including, for example, Chief Executive Officers, Program Directors, frontline staff, and tenants—bringing both professional and lived experience to the following sessions:

We extend our sincere thanks to our trainers, participating agencies, organizational leaders, and direct service staff for sharing their expertise, investing their time, and demonstrating an ongoing commitment to building safer, healthier supportive housing communities. Your partnership continues to strengthen the field and improve outcomes for both staff and tenants.
