On February 17th, Governor Kathy Hochul announced more than $240 million in tax credits and subsidies was awarded to create and preserve 1,800 affordable, modern homes in 27 housing developments across New York. Supportive Housing is a component of 17 (63%) of those projects, totaling 504 units. Of those:
• 253 are Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI)
• 133 are Office of Mental Health SP-SROs funded with OMH Capital from the Governor’s $1 billion plan from 2024
• 114 NYC 15/15 Supportive Housing Plan
All projects were awarded Low Income Housing Tax Credits, totaling $56.4M. Additional capital funding from the Supportive Housing Opportunity Program (SHOP) totaled $65M.
