We are pleased to share that the Mayor has announced a $46 million investment to reallocate resources from the unawarded NYC 15/15 scattered-site units toward the development and preservation of 5,850 supportive housing units in the NYC 15/15 initiative. While the broad commitment to reallocation has been announced, the specifics are still being finalized.
The announcement was made at Comunilife’s Woodhull II residence, where the Network was joined by Mayor Eric Adams; Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development and Workforce, Adolfo Carrión; Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, Suzanne Miles-Gustave; Commissioner of DSS, Molly Park; Acting Commissioner of HPD, Ahmed Tigani; Acting Commissioner of DOHMH, Dr. Michelle Morse; Executive Deputy Commissioner of DOHMH, Dr. H. Jean Wright; CUCS tenant, George; and many others who were instrumental in getting this deal done.
This outcome is the result of our collective and sustained advocacy, which began with the Network’s 2023 Reimagine NYC 15/15 policy brief. We would like to thank our coalition partners who carried this message consistently, and our government partners at HPD, DOHMH, DSS, and OMB for their engagement and partnership throughout this process.
Speaker Adams and the New York City Council played a vital role, with Council Member Linda Lee leading a sign-on letter in support of the reallocation, and City Council formally including the ask in its FY25 Preliminary Budget Response. We are deeply grateful to all Council Members who participated in two NYC Council Lobby Days, listening as tenants shared their stories about why supportive housing is vital to their lives and communities.
