The Network hosted a workshop on strategies to improve WiFi in residences with June Clarke, Director of IT at Urban Pathways. Clarke discussed how Urban Pathways retrofitted several of their residences and shelters to increase bandwidth and capacity for tenants and staff at relatively low cost.
Clarke grounded her presentation in why WiFi access is so important to combat tenant isolation during COVID-19. She then reviewed the steps Urban Pathways took to improve WiFi in residences, including the vendors they used, hardware options, strategies for installation, and potential budget constraints.
