On September 24th, Breaking Ground joined project partners and elected officials to celebrate the opening of Sutphin Senior Housing and Clinic.
The 15-story building also includes a state-of-the-art health center operated by Community Healthcare Network, bringing medical services directly to residents and the surrounding community. Located in Jamaica, Queens this new affordable and supportive housing residence is creating 173 apartments, including 52 supportive for older adults. On-site support services are provided by Breaking Ground and are funded by NYC 15/15 and administered through the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
At the opening, Breaking Ground’s President and CEO Brenda Rosen said, “At Sutphin Senior Housing our partnership with Community Healthcare Network allows tenants to access high-quality care right where they live, while the broader Jamaica community gains an important new healthcare resource. We’re proud to bring this model to Queens and excited about what Sutphin Senior Housing will mean for the entire neighborhood. None of this is possible without the commitment to supportive and affordable housing by our partners in government and the private sector.”
