An Extraordinary Achievement, An Enormous Challenge
Implementing the New York/New York III Agreement
This 2006 document came on the heels of the New York/New York III Agreement, a partnership between New York City and New York State to create 9,000 units of supportive housing over the next 10 years. The study offers a detailed plan for how government agencies can best implement the ambitious agreement. In particular, it offers guidance on how government can: 1) Include members of the supportive housing community as full partners in the agreement, 2) Educate the public on the benefits of supportive housing, 3) Offer adequate and flexible funding for operating and services and 4) Provide a sufficient amount of capital funding for supportive housing.
