Tenant Education Resources

Many programs offer educational materials to teach tenants about sustainable living. Programs are also available to help supportive housing providers design or run their own program. Methods to reduce energy are illustrated daily in utility company advertisements and may be requested by funding agencies. Below, you will find a sampling of tenant education resources.

Enterprise Green Communities

Training in a Box is an education program with PowerPoint presentations and group activities that enable affordable housing staff to teach tenants about electricity bills, water waste, waste reduction and healthy homes.

Sustainability Training Grants offer help green affordable housing projects fund sustainability education.

Solar One  

S1 Tenant Education Program (STEP) teaches affordable housing tenants about green lifestyle through: energy, water, waste, indoor air quality, food and community.

New York City Housing Authority  

Resident’s Guide to Saving Energy and the Environment is an illustrated pamphlet that offers 40 conservation tips for tenants in multifamily housing. 

Green Strides Consulting  

Green Strides Consulting provides consultation services from an environmental psychologist who works directly with organizations to become environmentally sustainable through: goal definition, progress measurement and programmatic improvements.
