The New York State Assembly honored outstanding supportive housing providers from around the state on March 3, 2015 as part of our second lobby day of the year, another joint effort with Homeless Services United.

Reverend Georgiette Morgan-Thomas of Goddard Riverside Community Center said, “it was an honor to represent those who cannot represent themselves yesterday; having witnessed the benefits of NY/NY I, II and III, I understand the necessity of NY/NY4, as well as the need to increase funding for services to our homeless population, and feel passionate about helping our legislators understand the need.  Being acknowledged and introduced to the entire Assembly for the work that I have done in housing was empowering and encouraging.”

“I will always remember the moment in the New York State Assembly Chamber when I got to stand up to represent all the providers of supportive housing across New York.  It was thrilling” enthused Carole E. Coppens of the YWCA of Binghamton & Broome County.

Organizations honored by Assembly Member Keith Wright were Harlem United, Housing and Services Inc., and Goddard Riverside.

Hour Children staff and tenants were honored by Assembly Member Cathy Nolan.

Organizations honored by Assembly Member Michael Blake were Community Access, Unique People Services and Odyssey House.

Assembly Member Donna Lupardo honored the YWCA of Binghamton.

Assembly Member John MacDonald honored Catholic Charities and Joseph’s House.

Urban Pathways and Common Ground were honored by Assembly Member Dick Gottfried.

Nicole Bramstedt of Urban Pathways said, “we thank Assembly Member Gottfried and the Assembly for not just recognizing us, but the plight of the single homeless adults across New York City and the solutions in the form of supportive housing and safe havens.”

A big congratulations to all our members honored by the New York State Assembly!  And a sincere thank you to all the members of the Assembly doing the honoring.
