HCR Releases 2014 Unified Funding Round RFP

NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) has released its annual Unified Funding Round Request for Proposals (RFP) for its Multifamily Capital and Credit Programs. Those seeking funding must submit early round applications by October 7th and regular round applications by December 4th.

Ted Houghton Moves to HCR

After eight years at the helm of the Supportive Housing Network of New York, Ted Houghton has been appointed Executive Deputy Commissioner at New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR).  Under the leadership of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and HCR Commissioner & CEO Darryl C. Towns, Ted will direct affordable housing program activities of all HCR subsidiaries, and coordinate housing policy across all State agencies.

NPR Reports on New York State’s Ground-Breaking Use of Medicaid Dollars to Create Supportive Housing

NPR aired an inspiring and informative story on July 28, 2014 profiling Lissette Encarnacion’s path from chronic homelessness into supportive housing in Common Ground’s residence, The Brook, financed in part with State Medicaid funds.

Reported by Amanda Aronczyk of WNYC, the piece features interview segments with New York State Medicaid Director Jason Helgerson, and Brenda Rosen, Executive Director of Common Ground (and a Network Board Member).

Aronczyk also focused attention on supportive housing in her WNYC stories from June 4, 2014 “Take This Apartment and Call Me in the Morning” and “Supportive Housing as Healthcare.”
